About Us

In November 2008, after the passage of Prop 8 in California and denial of marriage equality to our Gay and Lesbian siblings. A collective of organizers met to form the Orange County Equality Coalition (OCEC).

In 2009, the interfaith organizers of the (OCEC) formed an Interfaith Committee.

In 2010, OCEC moved to transition its mission and vision to focus specifically focus on Queer (LGBTQ+) Rights. With growing frustration over Islamophobia, shrinking Women’s Rights, Immigrant Rights, inequality in Labor Rights, the growth of White Supremacy, and so much more, the members of the interfaith of the committee of (OCEC) chose to develop new organization to address as many of these injustices as possible and thus Progressive Interfaith Alliance.
