Get ready, and as Rachel Maddow would say, “Buckle up.” We are riding the rapids of the most consequential election of our lifetimes. Because our branches of government, institutions, and politics are vulnerable to manipulations and corruption, the integrity of our nation’s democracy depends on “we the voters.” We, you and me, are the most powerful and essential protection against manipulation, corruption, and lies.

In August, we will focus on the critical choices facing voters to assure you have all the information and resources you need to inform your participation and activism, and make the best use of your vote. “This is no time for casual faith. It is time to know what you believe, and be faithful – it is time to be awake. We are the makers and the keepers – will it be of heaven – or hell. We will decide.“ -Vaclav Havel

We are not the first and will not be the last to face fascists, antisemites, racists, homophobes, and misogynists hungry for power. What can we learn from the past to assure our success in protecting democracy?
